Dez Mensa delivers us his captivating new single ‘Girl For Me’ featuring Do£ Boii, the single was written and co-produced by Derry himself and J Caeze (who’s has worked with various up and coming UK talent), it uses elements of a RnB classic Donell Jones – Shorty Got Her Eyes On Me!
Derry Mensah aka Dez Mensa was born London and from the tender age of 6 years old, it was apparent that he was a natural talent as he often performed for his mother’s friends and family. He began to take his singing seriously in 2009, little did he know that his life would rapidly be thrown into the spotlight! After racking up over 6million views for his electric Xfactor audition, he was given the opportunity to join the band ‘The Risk’ formed on the 9th series of The X Factor.
Upon leaving the show they hit a record, ‘the most booked act’ on the history of X Factor, for booking over 200 gigs. The Risk supported names such as Peter Andre, Jessie J & Boyz II Men and released 2 singles independently that reached the Top 40.
Since the band split Derry is determined to continue his music career and establish himself as a solo singer/rapper/songwriter. His sound inspired by; the legendary Michael Jackson, who’s energy and the ability to send his audience into a frenzy captured Derry’s imagination and Usher, who’s infectious humility on and off the stage has inspired and is reenacted by Derry himself.
Recently, he’s been in the studio working with many different producers and getting ready for his debut EP, this is an artist that we must keep a close eye on!
