The brand new single from Vianni “SOS” was premiered this week by BBC 1xtra’s Twin B and is available now on all DSP’s with the video dropping this Sunday via LinkupTV.
21-year-old singer/songwriter Vianni is a multi-talented prodigy. Born and raised in Croydon, South London to Congolese parents, as a teenager Vianni taught himself to play piano, guitar, and drums from helping out at local studios. Aged 19 he scored himself a place at the prestigious music school BIMM. Barely a year into his course Vianni released “Recognise” (https://youtu.be/SA8r5sYePB4 – 6million views +) a mix of smooth soul melodies laid over sharp, snapping rhythms. The song was an instant hit. Within a couple of months of releasing Recognise via LinkUpTV, the track had amassed 6million + views. It remains in the top 20 of the all-time most popular tracks on Link Up and has announced the arrival of a major new talent.
Now, with a new single prepared, an EP on the way and a mixtape planned for 2018, he’s ready for the next step on his startling upwards trajectory.
The new single ’S.O.S.’ is the next step in the Vianni story. Drawing on his love of classic soul, gangster RnB, and Afro-pop, the track channels Marvin Gaye, John Legend and Chris Brown, then spices their influence with a percussive shuffle that pays homage to Vianni’s Congolese heritage. The result is a fresh, melodic jam that is both familiar and innovative; fitting into the classic RnB canon even as it pushes London’s blossoming Afro-Bashment sound forward.
With a young fanbase desperate to hear the next cut from Vianni, ’S.O.S.’ is destined to be another big moment for a young star who is only just getting started.
